Stephanie and Johanna at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, August 2008 |
In 2002, Stephanie Ong Stillman and Johanna Silva launched Hope Road Consulting on the principle that culturally appropriate messages are needed in order to inform and engage the emerging communities of California. Their drive comes from their personal immigrant experience and their many years of community involvement. Stephanie and Johanna often reflect on the language and cultural barriers their families faced while adjusting to life in the States. They both immigrated to the United States in 1981 - Stephanie from the Philippines and Johanna from Nicaragua.
Stephanie and Johanna are personally involved in every aspect of each project. Clients benefit from their combined experience working for electoral campaigns, community organizations, and government agencies. Hope Road's philosophy is simple. We believe every person has a right to be part of the decision making process. We work with our clients to create avenues for community members to get educated, get involved, and take action. |
We often get asked where the name comes from. Hope Road is a street in Kingston, Jamaica where
Bob Marley used to live. The house at 56 Hope Road is now a museum - if you are ever in Jamaica,
it's a must see! |
